"Adult Swim" is a block of programming on the Cartoon Network, which is a cable television station created by the Turner Broadcasting Company in late 1992. The cable network often showcases television shows geared towards the younger TV audience. However in September of 2001 the network launched a new block of programming known as Adult Swim, the purpose of which was to air TV cartoons geared more towards the teenage/adult audience After being canceled in 2002 Family Guy was thought by many to be dead, even syndication of the show could not be seen on any Fox network. However after much deliberation between Turner Broadcasting and Fox, Family Guy finally found its way back on the air, although in syndication on April 20th 2003, a decision that would one day save Family Guy, bringing it back to the primetime show it is today.
