- The title of this episode is a reference to the theme song of a show named The Greatest American Hero.
- In "The Drunken Clam' bar you can see Recess's very own T.J. Detweiler in adult form. He can be seen at about 15:52 on the DVD, and is talking to some guy in a blue coat.
- Spider-Man is seen in this episode, and he saves Cleveland from falling. Spider-Man saved Peter in the episode in Let's Go to the Hop.
- Colin Farrell is seen hanging out with Stewie, as Stewie meets him after a while he blows him up with a laser gun.
- The title is derived from an 80's theme song entitled "Believe it or Not" sung by Joey Scarbury. The actual lyrics were "Believe it or not I'm walking on air".
- While in the bar, the guys see a television promo about a new show called "Who wants to marry Corky from Life Goes On?" Life Goes On was a show that aired on ABC from 1989 to 1993. Corky, the son on the show who is played by Chris Burke, has Down Syndrome.
- Fred and Barney from the television show The Flintstones are seen in the Quahog Men's Club.
- The musical number Joe, Quagmire and Peter and Stewie perform is Good Mornin' from the musical Singin' In The Rain'.
- The song playing when Pontius Pilot and Judas plan to crucify Jesus is "Sunshine Day" by The Brady Bunch.
- When Dr. Hartman is searching for legs to give to Joe on his computer, one pair of legs is that of Big Bird.
- When Cleveland states that he hates shows "that cut away from the story for some bullcrap," he refers to Family Guy and his spinoff itself because of their cutaway gags.
