Bonnie Swanson is Joe's wife known in Family Guy for being pregnant for almost the whole series. She speaks with a squeaky semi-teen voice (voiced by Jennifer Tilly). Bonnie is rather timid and always does as Joe says. She is a lot calmer than her husband Joe and often uses failed attempts to calm him down. She once said "I can't say no to Joe... ever". She appeared in and Peter once commented on her pregnancy stating that she's "been pregnant for like six freakin' years". She is played by Valerie Bertinelli in the movie Rolling Courage: The Joe Swanson Story in the episode Ready, Willing, and Disabled. In the DVD movie Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story, taking place 30 years later, she will give Joe her legs when she dies. In her initial appearance, she was brown haired. In the episode, Ocean's Three and a Half, Bonnie finally gives birth to a beautiful baby girl named Susie after 10 years. She has a deceased son called Kevin who died in Iraq.

She has black hair (brown hair in her debut episode) , light olive skin and wears a purple dress. In some of her dialogue, she sounds as if she is of a Hispanic background.

In the episode "Love Thy Trophy" Lois calls Bonnie "Debbie" after Joe and Cleveland stall the foster parents. The reason for the name switch is unknown. She also appears the last of the wives who are married to someone in the main cast, because Cleveland divorced Loretta, and Quagmire was only married for one episode and then at the end she died in that same episode. However, Cleveland is now married toa Donna Tubbs(as seen in The Cleveland Show) making Bonnie the second last person to get married to one of the main cast. In Stewie Kills Lois, during a cutaway gag Bonnie is implied to have engaged in an affair with Peter. The bedroom is not lit but Peter voices his guilt over betraying his friend. Strangely, Joe appears to be present and assures him it's ok. Also, in the pilot episode of The Cleveland Show, Cleveland asked her to make out with Lois and she did.
