- Peter's suggestion to Brian of Lois killing her roommate during a sex game is a reference to Amanda Knox in the murder of Meredith Kercher.
- Stewie's reference to Italians killing their brothers comes from the story of Romulus and Remus. Stewie's treatment of Chris also infers it to mean The Godfather: Part II when Michael Corleone had his brother Fredo killed for betraying him.
- Peter distracting the shipyard workers by holding a sign referring to Tony Danza is a reference to a similar scene in the Rodney Dangerfield film Back to School.[2]
