Palpatine, also known as The Emperor, Senator Palpatine, Chancellor Palpatine, Emperor Palpatine, and Darth Sidious is a fictional character and the main antagonist in the Star Wars saga. Ian McDiarmid portrays the character in the feature films.
In "The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire", he tried to make Cleveland Brown so angry he'll beat up Glenn Quagmire for sleeping with Cleveland's wife. Palpatine was easily defeated by Lois Griffin, who believed he was not helping.
In "Barely Legal", Stewie proclaims that discovering Brian and Meg kissed at the dance was a bigger jackpot than when the Emperor discovered the key to great Star Wars dialogue. Palpatine tells Darth Vader "Something, something, something, dark side; something, something, something, complete!" The first portion of the quote became the title for the Blue Harvest sequel.
He is also seen in "Tales of a Third Grade Nothing," at the Quahog Cabana Club as the only audience member when Frank Sinatra, Jr. and Brian become the new owners. He requests they play "On the Dark Side".
For Family Guy's parodies of the original movies, Something, Something, Something, Dark Side and It's A Trap!, Palpatine is played by Carter Pewterschmidt, and acquires many of his mannerisms. Carter acquires many of Palpatine's powers, including Force Lightning. Death was originally slated to play the character in the specials, but was replaced with Pewterschmidt, as revealed in Dark Side's Fact-Ups special feature.
At the stop smoking clinic in "Secondhand Spoke", Peter wonders why all of the patients look like Emperor Palpatine.
In "Boston Stewie", Meg is unable to get a stain out of Peter's Emperor Palpatine Halloween costume robe.
In all appearances not played by Pewterschmidt, Palpatine is voiced by Chris Sheridan.
