John J Mellencamp (born October 7, 1951), also known as John Cougar Mellencamp, is an American musician, singer-songwriter, painter, and actor, known for his songs "Hurts So Good", "Lonely Ol' Night", "Small Town" and "Cherry Bomb".
Mellencamp provides his own voice in "Peternormal Activity" when one of his fictional songs "Dodge Tough", plays on the radio. With lyrics that sound suspiciously like Peter and the guys experience in burying a body of a man they killed the previous night, they lyrics even include their names. Peter doesn't recognize the song at first until he realizes that it was used in a car commercial.
