Heart and Soul
Heartsoul
From the episode: The Big Bang Theory
Singers: Brian, Stewie Griffin
Voices: Seth MacFarlane

"Heart and Soul" is a popular song, with music by Hoagy Carmichael and lyrics by Frank Loesser, published in 1938. The original 1938 version was performed by Larry Clinton & his Orchestra featuring Bea Wain. The song's A-section is often simplified as a repeating I-vi-IV-V progression and taught to beginning piano students as an easy two-hand duet.

To demonstrate the versatility of nothingness before the universe was created in "The Big Bang Theory", Stewie and Brian sing "Heart and Soul" with their heads taking the place of musical notes on a staff, Brian singing the rhythm part and Stewie singing the melody.

The song is also played briefly by Stewie on a toy piano in "It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One".

Lyrics

Brian: Bum ba duc ta bum ba duc ta
Stewie: Heart and soul, I fell in love with you,
Brian: Bum ba duc ta bum ba duc ta
Stewie: Heart and soul, the way a fool would do,
Brian: Bum ba duc ta bum ba duc ta
Stewie: Madly...Because you held me tight,
Brian: Bum ba duc ta bum ba duc ta
Stewie: And stole a kiss in the night
Brian: Bum ba duc ta bum ba duc ta
