References
  • Charles Manson's "If I haven't seen it, it's new to me!" is a play on a then-current NBC slogan pushing summer repeats.
  • When Brian accuses Peter of not being able to “quit” candy, the show cuts to a parody of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Peter takes the place of Violet Beauregarde.
  • There is a Wonder Years-style voice over for Meg.
  • Peter has a Wizard of Oz-inspired dream, seeing ALF, Gilligan's Island, the robot from Lost in Space, and I Dream of Jeannie, who turns into Samantha Stephens from Bewitched. In his sleep, he mutters “Must See TV!”
  • Sunny, the mascot for Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, dumps two scoops of giant raisins over the town.
  • Peter runs over Road-runner in a random flashback. He is accompanied by Wile E. Coyote (who always fails to catch Road-runner) in the car. This is based on the cartoon by Warner Brothers.
  • In his last seconds of life, Shatner spoofs the famous Star Trek-related phrase, “Beam me up, Scotty,” with “Beam me up, God.”
  • In one of the Star Trek cutaways, Captain Kirk (Shatner) claims the mission will be dangerous, and one of them will likely die. He then brings along, among others, Ensign Ricky, a Redshirt. When Shatner is later run over, Ensign Ricky appears and says, "Man, I did not see that one coming."
  • CHiPs is also parodied. In it, Ponch pulls over a blonde-haired driver and flirts with her, as two gangs involved in a drive by shooting pass behind him, as well as a semi which is clearly labeled "Pure Uncut Cocaine".
  • During the Bavarian festival, a German bratwurst vendor reminiscent of Adolf Hitler uses a sausage to hit a polish sausage vendor, and then takes over the stand. He then looks at a Czech vendor suspiciously.
