"I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General" is a patter song from Gilbert and Sullivan's 1879 comic opera The Pirates of Penzance. The song is replete with historical and cultural references, in which the Major-General describes his impressive and well-rounded education.
in "Killer Queen", Peter calls Lois to share the news of a murder that has taken place at the camp. Peter takes offense that Lois previously criticized his patter-singing abilities and reminds her of singing "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General" in The Pirates of Penzance. In a cutaway, Peter mumbles his way through the lyrics with only the occasional word being understandable until the end when he finishes with "...with the eggs on top."
