Cleveland's wife Loretta was the law in the Brown house. She cheated on Cleveland with Quagmire because Cleveland's emotionless personality did not provide her the "passion" she desired. After Cleveland found out, they split up. However, they still have feelings for each other in Love Blactually. To get revenge on Cleveland for taking Brian's girlfriend away, Brian and Stewie lie to her, saying that Cleveland wants her back. She returns, much to the displeasure of Lois and Peter, who do not want Cleveland to take her back. Peter persuades Quagmire to have sex with her, but she angrily declines, saying she has changed and still loves Cleveland. However, although he loves her, he says that their relationship was a thing of the past, and he wants her to live her life, after which Loretta sheds a tear.

When she had her illicit affair with Quagmire a thong can be seen on the sofa.

She would enjoy acting, though her chance to be a star was ruined by Peter's actions. Lois had given her one of the lead roles in "The King and I", but the part was given to Diane Simmons.

She was mentioned when Cleveland says "Oh, look at the time. I promised Loretta I was gonna trim the hedges and be tender with her.".

On another note, she doesn't allow white literature in the house and is a very good cricketer.

When her divorce with Cleveland was finalised, Cleveland obtained custody of Cleveland Brown, Jr., but Loretta got the house.

The character was written out of Family Guy largely at the behest of Alex Borstein, who complained the deep gravelly female voice of Loretta was too demanding in way of her voice acting. Although Loretta Brown is effectively considered to be out of the Family Guy universe, creator Seth MacFarlane has hinted at a likely re-emergence of Loretta on the 2009 sitcom The Cleveland Show. If so it remains to be seen how Loretta will react to Cleveland marrying another woman in Virginia.
