  • This is the second Christmas-themed episode, after "A Very Special Family Guy Freakin' Christmas".
  • This is also the 6th "Road to..." episode, and the first to contain more than one big musical number.
  • Ron MacFarlane, Seth MacFarlane's father, appears in live action as the narrator.
  • The song "All I Really Want For Christmas" was previously written years ago with different lyrics sung only by the Griffin family and was not originally meant to be used in the series.
  • This is the first "Road to" mini-series episode to be composed by Ron Jones.
  • This is the first episode where Mila Kunis sings for Meg perfectly instead of being dubbed and instead of speak-singing like in the original version of "All I Really Want for Christmas" and singing off-key like on the Family Guy: Live in Vegas album.
  • "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" by Brenda Lee can be faintly heard at the North Pole attraction in Burrillville, Rhode Island.
  • The Griffins are watching Yule Log which is traditionally shown on Christmas Day during the opening number set prior to Christmas.
  • This is the second full hour episode that does not spoof Star Wars.
  • This is the third episode with Ball in a Cup, the first was in "The Fat Guy Strangler".
  • In "All I Really Want For Christmas", Peter wishes for twelve kegs of beer, but he is sitting on thirteen.
  • This episode won a 2011 Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for Production Sound Mixer Patrick Clark and Sound Re-Recording Mixer James F. Fitzpatrick. "Christmastime Is Killing Us" also was nominated for a Emmy for "Outstanding Music and Lyrics. It lost to Justin Timberlake's monologue song from SNL and received a 2012 Grammy nomination in "Best Song Written For Visual Media category" losing to "I See The Light" from Disney's Tangled.[1]
  • In the northern hemisphere, birds fly south for the winter. Therefore the truckload of birds should have been leaving Canada, not entering.
  • When Brian tries to start his car after the accident, you hear the engine try to turn over. Being a 2004 Toyota Prius, it should have tried to start in electric mode.
  • Brian and Stewie begin delivering presents in the North-Eastern United States. Santa would actually need to begin his delivery of presents in the country of Kiribati. It is the first country west of the International Date Line, therefore it starts December 25 before all other countries.
  • The DVD commentary reports that the live-action sequences were shot on the set of Bones.
  • The discussion between Stewie and the Canadian mentions AAA, the American Automobile Association. In Canada, the equivalent to AAA is its affiliate "CAA", the Canadian Automobile Association.
