Rocketman was originally sung by Elton John in 1972. In 1978, William Shatner performed a spoken-word version of the song at the "1978 Science Fiction Film Awards" and it is Shatner's version of the song that Stewie sings. The difference between the two songs comes with the pause between each individual line.

Seth MacFarlane "sings" it as Stewie again in Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show.
