Talk:8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter

When Stewie has the flashback of him on a date with some woman, what were the "Stewie drops the ball" and "Italians are from Italy" things parodying?
The TV Show "Blind Date". I guess you've never seen it; I have and thought this segment was hilarious. It's a show that's been around for like 8 years now (before reality tv was big). They follow two people on a blind date (go figure) and frequently narrate it with little animations on the screen. It's pretty easy to parody, really.

Thanks. I very rarely watch reality TV.

[edit] Overkill?
Does anyone else feel that the references section here goes to far? Do we really need to explain who Adolf Hitler was? FS
First of all, wow. There are a lot of references listed. Second, are you talking about the suicide explanation? Cause I don't think that's overkill, since not everyone knows the circumstances of their deaths. (Although, in reality, Hitler's still alive, along with Morrison, Elvis, Cobain, Sirius, and Mr. Pink) --HQ
Well, that's what I'm saying, I guess. I kind of feel that this many reference explanations to this level of detail is overkill. "Adolf Hitler, the German dictator during World War II notorious for the murder of Jews during the Holocaust." " "BBs" are small round plastic or copper balls used as ammunition for a BB gun, a small air-powered gun." This just seems to me to be too much. I'm not criticizing the poster, but to my mind, the reference explanations should be for things that are actually somewhat obscure. People generally know what BBs are, I think. Just wanted to throw it out there. FS
I gotcha. However, I think that in this specific case, it is relevant. I don't think that it would be relevant to explain who Hitler is in the "poor self image" gym reference or the Hitler talk show. It's just the extra bit about the suicide that makes me think this one should stay (plus the cutaway scene was rather long =P). --HQ
