Talk:Glenn Quagmire
Family Guy Wiki, your fan-created Family Guy resource.
I'm pretty sure his name is actually spelled with two ns: Glenn. I'll make the move sometime in the future.

From all I've heard, it's "Glen" Quagmire.

How come this site has a picture of Greased Deaf Guy and NOT a picture of Glen Quagmire?
-Jerkel
From what ive seen, the closed captioning for Blind Ambition says it has 2 Ns, but the Wikipedia article says his full name is glenwood. --Out-of-focus 04:12, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Here's all the variations I've heard: Glenn Quagmire -(Quahoginformant and Fox). Glen Quagmire -(Just about everywhere else) Glenwood Quagmire- (Wikipedia) --Loar5 06:23, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
There is some debate over Quagmire's previous contacts with Peter. It has been much hashed over on a couple of discussion boards including Planet Family Guy which Seth M has been known to visit. (He donated the live-action suit used when Peter freaked out in 'Let's go to the Hop' to the board.) Seth's stated position at a Q&A session was that he didn't care about continuity as long as it moved a story along. The majority of the fans have come up with the idea that because there are at least rwo entities with demonstrated time-travel abilities (Stewie and Death. Although it is assumed God has the sme power.) that plot complications such as variations in Quagmire's and Lois age (she is two years younger than Peter in 'Let's go to the Hop' but they are both 18 in 'Meet the Quagmires') can be attibuted to such an agency's interfearance with the time stream resulting in an alternate history which can be ignored until a new story confirms the old data. Peter is aasumed the one constant at this stage as the show revolves around him. (He has his own orbit you know. :) There is a strong case for Quagmire actually being 61 regulating 'Meet the Quagmires' to alternate timeline status - in 'Death Lives' he is an ensign on a frigate with no sign of his pilot ablilities that would quickly advance his rank. An ensign is a junior officer, indicating he had been in the service for awhile working his way through the ranks. (A 'mustang' in navy parlance.) He is also shown having a fully-grown adult son in 'Back to the Woods'. Another case for 'Meet...' is Rodger's appearance which has not been repeated...clearly a timeline left unpursued at this juction. Right now there are at least two possible timelines - Timeline 'A', Peter is two years older than Lois. Quagmire is 61. Timeline 'B', Lois and Quagmire and Peter are all roughly the same age. Any number of episodes can fit into either timeline giving us near infinate possibilities. --Buckimion 13:35, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- There are so many contradictions in Family Guy that only one conclusion can be drawn: they just luuuuuv to fuck with people who try and look for continuity (Stewie is still one year old, Brian has a son twice his age etc. etc.). The only explanation for Quagmire being 61 is his anachronistic behavior, mainly because MacFarlane created the character as a "50's radio guy on coke" (I've also heard him say that Quagmire's facial features are modeled after Bob Hope). As for timelines, both versions appear for one episode each, and both times it's the past as seen when Death takes Peter on a time travel.
- By the way, the son in Spain might not even exist, as Quagmire speculates about how he might have kids all over the world. 87.69.130.159 16:58, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- Quagmire's 'ratpack' lifestyle does indeed point to his age. My own house is heavily influenced by the '80s. :) (Although you might be hard pressed to recognise some of the references. I have a fondenss for '30's art deco influenced by the 1980 movie 'Xanadu'. And a love of '50's cars from 1982's 'Christine'.) Seth does enjoy mind games with the fans, possibly boardering on contempt. (He called the fans 'stoners that don't know anything' after the Benjamin Disreili cutaway in 'One if my Clam...' and also brought up the H.L.Menkin quote in 420's weed song.)--Buckimion 18:05, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Age
I believe it was stated in an episode that Glenn is 61 years of age.
If I recall correctly, the episode was about Fox News mainly.
It was in one of the episodes, do not remember the title though.
- FOX-y Lady in season 7. --Buckimion 14:58, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Ned Flanders?
Quagmire "giggity goo" somewhere resemble Flanders "diddly doodly". May Griffin's family neighboor being an reference to Simpsons' neighboor? Quagmire behavier is the complete opposite to Flanders...
