The Grinch is a Dr. Seuss cartoon character who appeared in the 1957 children's book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. Because of the popularity of this book the character and storyline spawned of a couple of tv specials and a real life movie staring Jim Carrey as The Grinch.

In the episode A Hero Sits Next Door, Joe Swanson tells everyone how he became paralyzed. The Grinch was stealing Christmas presents from an orphanage, Joe was called and he tried to stop him and gets the presents back but The Grinch says to Joe "you think you have won you think all is well but kiss my green ass I shall see you in hell" and throws a rollerskate at him which causes him to fall off of the roof paralyzing him in the process.
