• Stewie's time machine admonishment for Brian parodies Dennis Nedry's in Jurassic Park.
  • The lines Peter and Lois say after exiting the hospital following Stewie's birth parody the scene in Forrest Gump in which Forrest asks Jenny, "Is he smart, or is he like me?", after finding out that Jenny's son is also his own.
  • The "Here's where Brian goes berserk" cutaway is a parody of a similar scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Rolling the "odometer" back is also a key scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, in which the odometer of a car was rolled back to conceal that it had been driven.
  • After traveling back in time, Brian is seen wearing a Spanish knight's hat much like Don Quixote, and refers to himself as the "Man of La Muncha", a reference to the Broadway musical Man of La Mancha, which was adapted from Don Quixote.
  • Netchix is a parody of the movie rental service Netflix. Stewie mentions "Boxbuster", a parody of the struggling video store chain Blockbuster, which closed many of its retail stores and ended up as an online video rental service.
  • The DVD commentary indicates that the burst of light through the Griffin's roof is inspired by a combination of Ghostbusters and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
